Another week, another For the Frills pattern review. This week is the Forest Breeze Tee which is another free pattern. For the yarn, I specifically ordered each of these colorways to make these tops. They are no longer available, but I will link the stores below.
Let’s get into it!
I knew I wanted to make this pattern after I completed a few of the Sea Breeze Tank. I saw that this pattern was just a modified version of that pattern. With that in mind, I initially ordered Paintbox yarn simply dk in a few different colors. But then Sewrella Yarns announced their Bon Voyage collection in June of 2020 and I purchased Brooklyn instead.
Top in Brooklyn from Sewrella Yarn Bon Voyage Collection
The pattern was straightforward and easy to follow. You made the front two panels, that together made the v-neck. These two panels are connected and you double crochet the rest of the rows until the border. The border is made by alternating front post and back post double crochets which I really like. They stand out but are not complicated.
Top in Gates of the Arctic from Explorer Knits & Fibers National Parks Collection
I initially wasn’t planning on making a second top. I loved the top in Brooklyn. But then Explorer Knits released the Gates of the Arctic National Parks colorway and I had to have it. As soon as I saw it I knew it would look gorgeous as this top. Just like the first top, it was super easy to make. I flew through this one as well. The browns, greys and green are so beautiful and I can’t get enough of this color.
I really love these tops. They were super easy to make and the colors are absolutely amazing. I’m a sucker for hand dyed yarn. I typically try to make tops in acrylic yarn before I dive into hand dyed yarn, but for this top it didn’t happen.
Until the next post!
