DCP Tag - Fall 2022

Hello everyone!

I leave for my Disney College Program this week! I can’t believe its already here. I’m so excited to start this program and work at Disney World. For this week’s post I decided to do the DCP Tag. It’s a set of questions that is popular among Youtubers and blogs about the DCP. I’ll link a couple of videos below of other people’s answer.

Let’s get into it!

#1: How did you hear about the program?

I've known about the program since I was in high school. Back then I had a vague idea of what it was but didn't know much. I went to college for a few semesters and then took an extended break and didn't think I would be able to do the program. Last fall I saw the applications were open, applied, but didn't get in. I was a bit bummed but moved on. I got an email while at work that the fall program application had opened up and applied on a whim.

#2: How was the interview process?

After the park closure the application process changed. I have a blog post about the application process that Ill link. There was no interview process for my program. I filled out an application, attached my resume, and then waited to hear back. I know people who were interested in being lifeguards were interviewed. The waiting was the most nerve wrecking part. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait too long to find out.

#3: Where were you when you found out?

I found out a week after I applied that I was accepted. I had been thinking about it nonstop and obsessively checking my email for days. The Monday that I found out that I had been accepted, I left my phone in my bedroom and went and did a bunch of other things. I left my phone alone for over an hour and when I went back to check I saw that I had an email notification saying I had been accepted. Then I freaked out and called my parents.

#4: What is your role? Preferred roles?

There were a couple roles that I was interested in. I thought PhotoPass would be fun, I enjoy photography. I also thought children’s activities would be a ton of fun. They are the cast members who run activities as the resorts like pool games, tie dye, and movies by the pool. There was no option to rank roles like previous programs, so your role was randomly assigned. I got Quick Service Restaurant Specialty Food and Beverage, which is the in-park Starbucks locations. I’m going to be at Connections Café in EPCOT. I absolutely love EPCOT so I’m super excited about that being my home park. I’m not going to lie; I was a bit bummed at first. I really enjoyed my job at Starbucks, but I was hoping to be able to try something different. But the more I thought about it and the more I realized that doing something I was familiar with would help make the transition into the program a bit smoother.

#5: How did you find your roommates? How many roommates do you want?

The 2021 and 2022 programs are the first groups to live at Flamingo Crossings, the new apartment complex built for CPs. Every apartment is guaranteed four roommates, which is nice. From what I’ve seen from before, the other apartments that Disney used could have up to six roommates and that just seems like so many people in a tiny apartment. I was able to link with one roommate when registering on DORMS. I met her through Instagram. I’m in a couple different GroupMes and we were sharing our Instagram handles and we followed each other. She dm’d me first and now we’re going to be living together! I’m super excited to meet my other roommates, I have no idea who they will be, but it should be super fun.

#6: What are you going to miss while in the program?

There is quite a few things that I’m going to miss when I’m on my program. I think the hardest person to part with is my dog, Rexy. He’s my best buddy and I’m going to miss him a ton. I’m also going to miss my family and friends.

#7: What is your favorite Disney Park?

EPCOT is hands down my favorite park. It’s been my favorite park since I was a kid. I have always wanted to travel, and the World Showcase feels like a mini-international trip. I also just really love the atmosphere and rides there. I also really love Animal Kingdom. There’s just something about the park that I truly adore. I’m so excited to be working there.

#8: First thing you want to do when you get there?

I really want to resort hop and explore Flamingo the first couple of days that I'm there. My dad and sister are helping me move in and we're going to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios while we're there. That's going to be super exciting. I really hope to fully enjoy and experience everything the program has to offer.

#9: What is number 1 on your bucket list?

I have separate blog post dedicated to my DCP bucket list. I’ll link it here. I won’t mention my number one on the list, but I will mention my most important non-Disney item on the list. My number one non-Disney item is going to the ocean. I have never seen the ocean and I really would love to go. That is my top priority.

#10: What do you hope to take away from this program?

I hope to learn more about the inner workings of Disney World. I love being there and every vacation I’ve had there has been so magical. I can't wait to help make magic and learn more about hospitality. This is definitely going to be a ton of fun.

I can't believes I finally leave this week for my program. I am so excited and definitely can't wait to share everything!

Until next time!
